Great Dog - Nonprofit Support
See Project CANINE
Much of Great Dog has been built around
rescue and the efforts of a large compassionate animal community.
Great Dog is dedicated to fostering relationships with non-profit
organizations that seek to better animal kind through adoption.
Great Dog was founded by two greyhound owners and has since expanded
our embrace to cat & other breeds/canine rescue.
Great Dog to team up with Seattle
Animal Control to pilot an off site adoption location. More
information will come regarding adoptions as we get farther into the
process.
Leslie Csokasy, founder and co-owner of
Great Dog, is currently owned by three greyhounds. Her great
pups, Sam, Hoppie & Eddie spend each day at Great Dog and can often be seen
lounging on one of our various couches. Leslie volunteers with
a chapter of Greyhound Pets of America. Greyhound Pets of America is dedicated to finding
quality homes for ex-racers nationwide.

Judi Anderson-Wright, co-owner of Great
Dog, belongs to a West Highland Terrier, a rescued Lhasa Apso, a
rescued lab, a rescued Jack Russell Terrier and a "Can-Hardly"
Terrier (You can hardly tell what breed). Opie, the JRT, is one
of our store mascots and is a master of many tricks. He has
inspired Judi and Great Dog to do outreach programs involving
children in the Greater Seattle community. Opie goes to schools and
libraries teaching safe handling techniques for children & adults.
Judi has spearheaded Great Dog into a “terrier rich environment”
where terriers can be terriers. Great Dog often makes sure that the
local Jack Russell adoption group gets support through food, treats
and toys.
In December, 2007, Great Dog announced
the launch of Project CANINE,
a Washington State non-profit. We are in the process of
applying for our IRS non profit designation. More information
about Project CANINE can
be found on their website.
Great Dog is not, however, an outlet for
re-homing animals. We will be setting up a "links" page to
help our customers looking to re-home their pets.
